The Harlem Renaissance Women’s Literature Project is a multidisciplinary cultural initiative dedicated to recovering, presenting, and celebrating the literary legacy of Black women writers from the Harlem Renaissance. Through a curated combination of anthology publishing, spoken word performance, and public programming, the project brings long-overlooked poetry, plays, essays, and short fiction into contemporary conversation.
To reclaim and restore the voices of Harlem Renaissance women writers—many of whom have been marginalized or forgotten—by presenting their work in formats that are educational, accessible, and emotionally resonant for modern audiences.
Founded and directed by Karen Rae Levine, the project includes the ongoing Women of the Harlem Renaissance Anthology Series, as well as the signature performance program, Voices Restored: A Spoken Word Celebration of Poetry by Women of the Harlem Renaissance.
